Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal is a premier educational institute established in 1960 with the great lead and keen interest of Ex. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Late Shri. Vasantrao Naik and Late Shri. Sudhakarrao Naik Ex. Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Governer of Himachal Pradesh. The prime mission of the Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal is to promote quality education for the marginalized folks of the remote rural areas and to strive for all round development of the students by offering extensive and more liberal facilities of study and training in various branches of knowledge Arts, Science and technologies, Craft and culture.

The institution started at Pusad with the aim to prove eucational facilities to the community. The town Pusad is only 45 Kms. away from the town of Mahur which is one of the Shakti Peeth that stands amongs the green hills in the district Nanded with its rich religious, Political and Eucational Background

The institution has started its work of catering education by opening Phulsing Naik Mahavidyalaya on 20th June 1961. After 28 years with the lead and special efforts of Late Shri. Sudhakarraoji Naik, JSPM established Smt. Vatsalabai Naik Mahila Mahavidyalaya in1989 named after the wife of late shri. Vasantrao Naik, the motto “Education for Women” of providing higher educational facilities to the rural and backward girl. The college has also provided the facility of girl’s hostel to the students of rural and remote areas. At present the institution is recognized as a versatile institution and actively participating in educational, social and cultural development activities in the state of Maharashtra.
